Halo 2 PC flights to arrive on April 17

343 Industries Community Support & Engagement Coordinator Tyler “Postums” Davis revealed both Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary would begin its PC flighting on April 17.

Members of the Halo Insider program will get first reigns of the closed beta testing on Friday, says Postums. Invitations for the PC flights will be distributed via the Halo Waypoint website.

The arrival of Halo 2 and its remastered variant will mark the third and fourth editions of the franchise to be released on Steam. In December 2019, Microsoft revealed its blockbuster announcement to bring the entirety of the Halo: Master Chief Collection (MCC) to PC, starting with Halo: Reach. Since then, Halo: Combat Evolved has seen its original and remastered versions hit the Steam Marketplace, with the intentions of porting the remainder of MCC in chronological order, one at a time.

Halo 2 was a franchise favorite mostly regarded for its sharp, hitscan gunplay and lethal button combinations such as the BXR and double shot. The second iteration of the franchise was previously released on PC for Windows Vista, but was primarily disregarded by the hardcore community due to its disparities from the original Xbox release.
