B Site, the event organizer behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive franchise league Flashpoint, has unveiled its VALORANT tournament, Pop Flash.
The event will run from August 26 to 30, with five of B Site’s partnered teams participating through the eight team bracket for a $50,000 prize pool. Competing teams include Cloud9, Dignitas, Team Envy, Gen.G, Immortals, Sentinels, T1, and FaZe Clan Invitational champions, TSM. Pop Flash will be the final North American VALORANT tournament as part of the Ignition Series.
In light of the ongoing pandemic crisis, Pop Flash will take place entirely online for “the safety of the players, production staff and the fans.” The tournament will feature two groups comprised of four teams with three days of group play leading into a four team double-elimination playoff.
Vice President of Brand at B Site Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles commented on the announcement in a release: “We’re excited to join the VALORANT Ignition Series with Pop Flash. B Site is honored that we can help to lay the foundation for a brand new global esport in a way that sets a standard for sustainability and future success,” says Mykles. “Pro team organizations are just beginning to find their footing in this new arena and events like this will be a crucial stepping stone for player recruiting and team development.”
Pop Flash will feature a notable cast of commentators including Christine “Potter” Chi, Alex “Mauisnake” Ellenberg, Daniel “ddk” Kapadia and Erik “DoA” Lonnquist, with additional broadcast talent said to be announced soon.
All tournament matches will be streamed on Flashpoint’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
